As part of our commitment to our community, we are organizing a series of workshops to help bring citizens up to speed with emerging technology. All of our workshops are beginner friendly. Dates, times, and places are still being worked out, but we encourage you to fill out the form below indicating your interest. There is no commitment, but we want to judge interest levels before arranging venues. We don't want to book space in Tillamook for a class of 15 Astorians.
Why pay? (Open Source Software) - ~2 hours ($30-$40)
While the whole world has benefited from Microsoft products and services, open source software is increasingly popular and accessible. This class will acquaint you with the basics (browser, office, ftp, instant messenger, etc) and point you in the right direction to discover more.
World, Meet Me. (Social Networking) - ~1 hour ($20)
This workshop will introduce you to the world of social networking. Already popular with young people across the globe, sites like MySpace and Facebook are becoming an increasingly viable way to connect with family members and business associates. World, Meet Me will get you familiarized with the ins and outs of the most popular social networking sites.
Be Heard! (Blogging) - ~2 hours ($30-$40)
Our blogging workshop handles selecting blog software, securing hosting, customizing your site, and a discussion on what makes a good topic. Participants qualify for discounted domain name registration and hosting.
